Highway Maintenance

In 1988 Capilano was the first private company selected by the Ministry of Transportation to maintain the provincial highway system in the Howe Sound district. Since 1988 Capilano has gained tremendous experience in managing highway and bridge maintenance service areas for the Province of British Columbia. Capilano has taken that experience along with its dedicated base of qualified operators, certified tradesmen, patrol personnel, supervisors, and management and shaped a company that is committed to providing their friends, neighbours, customers and highway users with total satisfaction. Capilano is forever ensuring that everyone that travels the provincial highway system within its control gets to their destination safely.

Capilano currently manages two highway and bridge maintenance contracts – the Sunshine Coast and the Golden Ears Bridge.

The Sunshine Coast Service Area 5 contract was awarded to Capilano in 2004 by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure. The contract runs through 2014 and encompasses roughly 1150 lane kilometres.

In the spring of 2009 Capilano began managing the operations and maintenance of the new Golden Ears Bridge that spans the Fraser River. The bridge, as well as 14km of Golden Ears Way, connects Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge with Langley and Surrey. Capilano is contracted to operate and perform maintenance on the Golden Ears Bridge by The Golden Crossing General Partnership. The contract is in effect until 2040

Capilano is also affiliate with Miller Capilano Maintenance Corporation which maintains the Sea to Sky highway from West Vancouver to Whistler. Miller Capilano was awarded the 25 year contract in 2005.
